Layeh’s Bookshelf Connection: “Twilight in York”: A Journey of Redemption, Reflection, and Second Chances
Welcome to Layeh’s Bookshelf: Biweekly Book Reflections
I’m excited to introduce Layeh’s Bookshelf — a special section on my crowdfunding page where I share my thoughts on books by the incredible authors who appear as guests on my show, #dkLa! Friends. I’ve already featured two remarkable books and plan to update it every two weeks — there are so many authors with stories worth sharing! Whether you’re looking for your next read or just want to dive into something new, Layeh’s Bookshelf is the place to explore.
Twilight in York: A Journey of Redemption, Reflection, and Second Chances
I recently picked up Twilight in York by Ryan Gray, a story that blends biography, romance, and nonfiction. It immediately resonated with me, especially as I reflected on someone in my life with a similar past of struggles. Ryan’s journey of overcoming addiction and fighting for a better future brought me to reflect on how we often misjudge people based on appearances.
After interviewing Ryan on #dkLa! Friends, I gained an even deeper appreciation for his story. He shared how art helped him rise from a dark place, turning his life around in ways few can imagine. His story is a reminder to step outside our own bubbles and listen to the experiences of others — especially when it feels uncomfortable.
