Tails of Iron is one of those rogue-likes that grow on you. Beautiful graphics, fun soundtrack, and a main character you care about. The story is nothing to write home about. (Save the kingdom) But you care enough to want to finish game! So any problems? Well, most rogue-likes have main character who move FLUIDLY and carries an array of moves and techniques that add some flavor and strategy to the overall experience. But in TOI your character moves well like a mini-tank. Sure he can roll, (slowly) and has a very quick little scamper but mostly you roll, block, roll, attack. That’s how you beat most enemies. The enemy bosses all have an unblock able moves that makes game play very difficult and becomes more of a rock, scissors and paper strategy instead of the fluid combat that I expect from most rogue-likes. Do I still recommend the game? Yes, I finished it! Amazingly. Just be prepared for one tough game. Also Part two is on it’s way and it looks tougher!
Hopefully part two will have more game play depth and strategy than part one. Now go avenge your daddy and save the kingdom!
