Yeah, of course most STEM careers aren’t some huge cash cow job (excuse the mixed metaphor). They never have been. Like most engineers, those jobs are steady, and plod along as such. They’re only as unstable as the economy, which is to say, no more or less than any other job. Petroleum has trouble, but those engineers go over to natural gas and everything is fine.
I don’t care what job field people go in to. That’s not my scope of work. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
