What is The History of The Ladder?

Extension Ladders are an item that almost everyone has in their garage today, but do you ever wonder what the ladder was made of? They started out as wobbly structures made of grass.

It is believed that ladders were ancient tools and technology from at least 10,000 years ago, depicted in a rock painting in the Spider Caves in Valencia, Spain. The rock painting depicts two naked humans carrying baskets or bags. To reach a wild honeybee nest to harvest honey, a long, wobbly ladder, made out of the grass, was employed to reach it. It is believed that ladders were invented by Hebrews and Egyptians during ancient times.

It would take a braver person than me to climb a wobbly grass ladder without protection against bee stings to retrieve honey from wild bees if there had been a veil at that point.

I find ladders to be an essential part of human exploration, not just of faraway lands, but of all things previously out of reach. Once used to obtain raw materials and food for survival, ladders are now household essentials — why do so many of us own them?

Our main reason for doing DIY around the house is to maintain it properly with Heavy Duty Extension Ladders— there’s an old-fashioned saying that goes ‘an Englishman’s home is his castle’, which states that owners of a house have an intrinsic desire to maintain the property. The hardest to reach are the areas that everyone else sees when they pass by your house — the roof, gutters, fascia boards, upstairs windows, repointing work, etc.

Having a loose or cracked tile can cause leaks in your home, which can be fairly easy to fix, but a ladder or similar piece of equipment is essential to access your roof. By clearing leaves and other debris from your gutters, you also prevent nasty leaks into your home, as well as maintain your fascia boards to keep your home attractive and tidy — first impressions do matter, especially when you’re thinking about selling your home. Upstairs windows cannot be cleaned without a ladder, and are extremely difficult to clean!

Whatever your profession, whether you are a tradesperson or do it yourself, we have Extension Ladders UK that will suit your needs! We have a multipurpose ladder that can be used for any task around the house — and is ideal for window cleaners, builders, gutter and maintenance, handymen, and, of course, the homeowner! There is a Great Deals of Sale currently available on our website, where multipurpose ladders are being offered at an unbeatable price.

You’ve come to the right place if your home needs some pre-winter touch-ups — and doesn’t every home deserve some pre-winter work? Our full range of indoor and outdoor ladders and ladders is available here for all your ladder and ladder needs.
