The first time I ever came out to anybody was after my eight grade winter formal; their immediate response was “huh, I guess that means your my gay best friend.” It was a moment I had been dreading for such a long time. I remember I had been working up the courage to say it all night, and it ended so quickly and with a response I could have never imagined. However, I am glad that is what was said to me because I do not think I would be the same person I am today if this wasn’t.
