(from right to left): I took 60 seconds to reflect on what was going on around me, but it was a little too humid out for me. The humidity made it tough to appreciate what was around me, since all I could think about was how gross I felt. // Something I never really noticed on campus before was the bank. I was sort of aware we had a bank, but I very rarely meandered in that direction of the AMU. // A photo that represents what I learned today was the group of students waiting outside the Wehr Chemistry building. To me, it represents patience — waiting for something to happen. I had a tough time being patient during this activity. I feel as if photography is something one needs to be patient and intentional with. Instead of taking the time to try and get a good angle and lighting for my photos, I found myself standing from a distance, just shooting the shot without a second thought.

(from right to left): The photo of the construction sight is what I took to represent something I was afraid of. I was not afraid of the new athletic center, but moreso what construction itself represents. Construction represents the removal of something old (albeit a space or a building that was torn down) and the creation of something new in its place. Something I have always been hesitant about is change. It’s always exciting at first, but then I start to miss what was there previously. // Something that makes me feel safe on campus is the focus on faith and God here at Marquette. When I was applying to colleges, the biggest thing for me wasn’t distance or whether or not they had my major, but how strong the religious aspect was on campus. Marquette has a really great Catholic foundation and it makes me feel very comfortable being part of such a supportive community. // The third picture is of somebody I don’t know. She was just standing outside of the 707 Building and I asked her if she was okay that I took it. I have never had a problem talking to strangers before, but I kept thinking “what if I was in her position?” I definitely would have said no, but that could just be because I am kind of paranoid about somebody I don’t know taking my picture. Will they actually use it for class? Or something else?

(from right to left): I lived in Cobeen Hall my freshman year of college. I loved Cobeen; it really begun to feel like home for me at Marquette. When choosing dorms before the year begun, I knew right off the bat I wanted Cobeen. The location was ideal, since most of my classes were at Straz Business School. Another thing I was really appreciative of was the dining hall right downstairs. The only downside to having that was my lack of self-control. The “freshman fifteen” was more like the “freshman fifty” for me. I loved it though and I would not hesitate to live there again should I have the chance to start freshman year over. // The second photo was taken in Johnston Hall. This is of the time capsule of editors located on the third floor. // Next is the picture I found of something old. I chose to photograph this little part of Gesu because of the coloring. It may not actually be the oldest thing on campus, but because of the rain tinting the shade of the brick, it looked old to me.

This photo is from the back corner of Marquette Hall. I am very familiar with Marquette Hall, but mostly from the front, so this angle was fun. The vines cascading down from the walls made it look super pretty. Marquette University itself has such charm, but this building definitely adds onto it.

(from right to left): The rightmost photo is my “wild card” picture. It was just a funny picture I took of my friend Amanda outside of Straz. She was actually taking a picture of the flowers, but I thought her technique was funny so I decided to take the picture. She caught me though. // As for the contrasting textures, I chose the little sitting space outside of the art museum and compared it to the grass. While it does not look too much like a stark difference, the touch sensation is very different between the two. The pebbles were gritty, whereas the grass was soft from the rain. // The close up picture I took was of the pole in the same aforementioned sitting area. The iPhone camera is fantastic.

The photo on the right is of something that represents my dreams. Straz Business School represents my dreams in a way; I have always wanted to do corporate law and a big stepping stone to that is a good business foundation. To the left is something I found very beautiful. I really love seeing different shades of green together. Green is my favorite color, so seeing plant arrangements with an assorted array of greenery always makes me happy.

Couhglin Hall is something on campus that inspires me. It reminds me to be a better student and that it’s absolutely okay to ask for help. After all, nobody is really successful on their own. My sandals to the left are the newest thing I could found. I immediately thought of them when I read the sentence. They are brand-spanking-new and I love them already. Although… I do wish I got an orange pair.

This is a collection of the photos I took today (09/04/2018) for the photography activity. I learned that I am not a great photographer, but I do appreciate how photogenic Marquette is.
