Now, let’s dive into the specifics:

Similar to past leaderboards, The Winter Event will possess an overarching leaderboard that accumulates points earned by players throughout 3 milestone events.

New Year’s Milestone Event

The New Year’s Milestone will introduce the first event quest that awards Snowflakes. To begin, players must complete the initial event quest where mystery class seeds are exchanged for Paper Seeds. With the paper seeds in hand, players will be able to plant via the farm and harvest Paper. Players can then fuse Paper together with Gunpowder and other mystery class items via the workshop to produce Envelopes and Fireworks. Once the player has obtained the needed amount of Envelopes, Fireworks, Gunpowder, and Snowballs, they will be able to deliver them via an event quest in exchange for Snowflakes.

Valentine’s Day Milestone Event

Changelog: Jan 23, 2023 6:44PM PST
The Valentine’s Day Milestone will introduce the second event quest that rewards Snowflakes. To begin, players will need to focus on collecting cocoa seeds from unicorn poop & the gathering cart. Once the player has obtained a cocoa seed, they will be able to plant it via a farm plot to harvest Chocolate. Chocolate can be fused with Gunpowder and wonder class items via the workshop to create “Hot Chocolate”. Once the player has obtained the needed amount of Hot Chocolate, Envelopes, & Snowballs, they will be able to deliver them via an event quest in exchange for Snowflakes.

Snowflake Accumulation

Valentine’s Day Milestone

  • Valentine’s Day Milestone Event Quest: 10 Snowflakes per completion
  • Poop Collection: 12.50% chance per poop collection
  • Crafting: 3%-40% chance depending on matching or not matching and duration.
  • Gathering: 1–100% chance of 1 Snowflake when doing the best gathering for Cart Levels 1–10.
  • Mythic Unicorns have a 100% chance of getting a Snowflake when used with the best gathering! In addition, Mythic Unicorns get more Snowflakes when used for best gathering:
  • Single Mythics get +1 Snowflake when doing a Best Gather.
  • Double Mythics get +2 Snowflakes when doing a Best Gather.
  • Triple Mythics get +3 Snowflakes when doing a Best Gather.
  • Quad Mythics get +4 Snowflakes when doing a Best Gather.
  • Epic Mythics get +6 Snowflakes when doing a Best Gather.
  • Legendary Mythics get +10 Snowflakes when doing a Best Gather.

Getting Cocoa Seeds:

Cocoa Seeds can be obtained by completing daily/weekly quests and from poop collection.

Cocoa Seeds can be planted via a farm plot to produce Chocolate!

Chocolate can be fused together with other items via the workshop to produce Hot Chocolate!

With the Hot Chocolate in hand, head over to the Event Quest and turn them into +10 Snowflakes!

St. Patrick’s Day Milestone Event

The St. Patrick’s Day Milestone will introduce the third event quest that rewards Snowflakes. To begin, players will need to obtain Clover Seeds via the gathering cart and crafting.

Once obtained, players will be able to plant the Clover Seeds and harvest Shamrocks.

Shamrocks can be fused together with other light class items via the workshop to produce Golden Buckles.

Once the player has obtained enough Golden Buckles, and other inputs, they will be able to deliver them via event quests in exchange for Snowflakes.

Differently from the other final event quests, the St. Patrick’s Day event will be based on a Shadowcorn format “luck of the Irish”. Players will need to select the highest stat unicorns for this mission to ensure they have the best chance of succeeding!

Snowflake Accumulation

  • St. Patrick’s Milestone Event Quest: 25/175 Snowflakes per completion, depending on the Quest
  • Poop Collection, Gathering, and Crafting will be similar to the Valentine’s Milestone.

Milestone event quests & items will not be removed upon the conclusion of the milestone event, but rather, additional event quests & items will be added to provide players with more routes to obtaining Snowflakes. This means that during the Valentine’s Day milestone, players will still be able to complete the New Year’s event quest. It is important to note, however, that the event quest corresponding to the active milestone event will receive a Snowflake output boost during the milestone’s duration. For example, the New Year’s event path will yield 10 Snowflakes for completing it during the New Year’s Milestone but only 5 Snowflakes for completing it after the New Year’s Milestone.

For more information, here are the cumulative event path loops once all milestone-specific items have been introduced:

Event Item Implications (Past & Present)
As mentioned in the past, Cornucopias obtained during the Fall Event will be redeemable during the Winter Event, let’s hope you obtained plenty! Cornucopias can be utilized in two ways: to claim a “boost” on the Winter Event, or to claim a reward needed to help expand your operation.

The redemption quests will become active in 3 waves, and will remain active until the end of January. The first wave will include the Fall Event Mastery, Winter Boost, & T1 Material redemption quests. The second wave will include the Booster & UNIM redemption quests, and finally, the third wave will include the T3 Material Bundle & RBW redemption quests. Make sure to spend your cornucopias wisely and obtain the items most needed to enhance your operation!

Similar to Cornucopias, Snowflakes will be redeemable upon the conclusion of the Winter Event for a boost in the next event or a certain set of reward items!

Note that we will be leaving Cornucopia recipes active for the next few weeks to ensure that players have time to utilize remaining Fall Event resources. We would like to emphasize that this will not be the case going forward as only Snowflakes will be exchanged upon the conclusion of the Winter Event. Therefore, make sure to convert as many event specific resources into Snowflakes as possible!

Economic Rationale

It is important to understand that, especially during a bear market with low daily active player growth, it is not sustainable to incentivize events with additional currency rewards (RBW/UNIM). Meaning that rewards given out through events must be pulled from existing allocations to avoid unnecessary inflation.

With this in mind, our design team will be completing a series of tuning changes, to coincide with this event. These will be focused on lowering RBW sources from non-event systems to allocate towards event rewards. This will be a normal process going forth with the intent of providing engaged/event-focused players with an inherent advantage incentivising maximal event participation.

The underlying tuning changes made to achieve this goal will be to refactor Daily RBW quests to the Shadowcorn quest format (no structural changes were made to Weekly RBW quests) and to rebalance quest rewards to correspond with the decrease entry cost that arose from increasing the quantity received when crafting (1–3).

Shadowcorn quests were always meant to hold the most desirable rewards, and as such, it naturally makes sense for RBW to be earned via this structure. Shadowcorn quests possess a “fail” factor, and as such the potential RBW rewards are higher than when compared to regular quests. This is balanced out by the “fail” factor. Additively, this format will also further increase the value of higher stat corns.

With the recent changes to Quest Scrolls, the average quest scroll unit cost decreased (due to quest scroll recipes producing multiple) while the reward value continued to reference the previous unit cost per quest scroll. This was intentional and allowed for quest scrolls crafted at a premium to still be recognized at their initial exchange value. Now that sufficient time has passed, Quest Scroll inputs in quests will be rebalanced to match their new value, which in turn, will decrease the corresponding reward value.

We project for the above changes to decrease RBW earned via non-event loops by ~53,000 / day. Multiplied by the duration of the event will yield ~4M RBW to be distributed via the Winter Event. Of the 4M supply, ~2M will be given out in leaderboard rewards and 2M will be given out via “redemption” quests (Cornucopia).

Disclaimer

CU is a live economy in the truest sense, and as such, item prices are dynamically adjusted based on supply and demand. In situations that warrant, our design team reserves the right to adjust values throughout the extent of the event to ensure the game’s macroeconomic balance stays intact.

Rewards

Here are the Fall/ Winter Event Lootbox Reward Tables.

New Items!

Jousting Tickets

With Jousting just around the corner, look out for ways to earn Jousting Tickets. They come in three types: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. You will be able to craft these tickets after this update. Because Players with Unicorns but no Land will be able to Joust, these Tickets will eventually be able to be bought and sold on the RMP. Until then, you can craft them to your heart’s content. The Winter Lootbox will also always drop Jousting Tickets.

Jousting Potions

Along with Jousting Tickets comes Jousting Potions. There are four types of Jousting Potions: Power Potions, Endurance Potions, Speed Potions and Intelligence Potions. These Potions will increase a Score (Power, Endurance, Speed, Intelligence) of a Unicorn during a whole Jousting Tournament. Like Jousting Tickets, these Potions will eventually be bought and sold on the RMP. But you can begin crafting them and they will drop from the Winter Lootbox.

Right now only Tier 1 Jousting Potions will be craftable. Recipes for Tiers 2 and 3 will come in a later update. The balancing of Jousting Potions is still in progress as we continue to balance Jousting. We will post current tuning of Jousting Potions upon the release of Jousting.

Jousting Tickets and Potions will be placed in the RMP in the update with Jousting. But we want to give you time to build up a supply beforehand. The current thinking on Bundle Size will be 5.
