Imagine running a family business…
…and having some random stranger repaint your storefront every night, because you “clearly don’t understand modern color schemes”
Look, I work in social media, and I actually think that as far as a social “voice” goes, you would have been doing a great job…for a group of people who wanted you to do that job.
Your interactions were spontaneous, and witty, and everything a prospective agency or brand might want in a social media channel manager, but you’ve also exhibited an appallingly self-centered take on this whole story. When you call yourself “a burgeoning narcissist”, that’s not nearly as ironic a statement as you seem to think it is.
The people who work at Fairmount (or any successful small business) work unbelievably hard to keep that business afloat. If anyone has the right to define who they are to the larger world, they do.
Hopefully, some day you’ll look back on this, and instead of thinking “Hey, I was just proving a point”, you’ll realize “Holy crap…I was being a real jerk.”
