Rendezvous
There are times at a B School, mad times. Assignment after assignment, project after project and submission after submission. Not to mention the excess of competitions and classes. 8 30 AM lectures and the loss of sleep as a result of that. Amidst all this, you barely get time to breathe, to think, to sit back and reminiscence about the minutes that have gone by…
But like all exceptions, the poor souls do get a breather, every now and then, akin to the diver who swims up for one more breath. And when times like these strike, people go crazy. Some like to head out, check out the new movie in town. Some like to hit the closest lounge for a drink or two. Some may just want to drive till the roads permit. Some end up sleeping their time away, making up on lost ground. Some like me, just love to sit back and relax, with a warm cup of coffee and dish out what you are about to read. Something that comes naturally to introverts like me. Hopefully, I shall be able to repay your faith in kind by taking you on a journey. A journey we shall take together, if you happen to be on the same boat as I am. So read on…
150 days. That is the amount of time that I would have spent away from my home, by the time I head back. That is by far the longest stretch of time that I would have spent away. And the fact gnaws at you, from deep within. It is similar to this insatiable urge of doing something that you want to, but can’t because you don’t have enough time to. Because spending 12K for an overnight trip seems stupid. Because the time you spend travelling would be more or less similar to the actual time you spend at home. Because of this, and more.
But it does nibble at you. That sinking feeling when you strike days off the calendar. You eagerly wait for the day when you can line up in the queue to collect your boarding pass; when you might actually smile at the smirk of the auto guy whom you didn’t tip extra for having handled your luggage; when you don’t mind switching from a window seat to one on the aisle; when you would set foot on the land again, that you call home; when you don’t heckle with the taxi guy for the last ten rupees; when you forgive the creaky lift in your apartment; when you don’t bother about the calling bell on your door that hasn’t worked for ages; when you finally get to see your parents grinning at you from ear to ear; when you get to take your trusty old bike for a spin; when you head down to your favorite coffee shop with your chums; when you can finally fall asleep on that bed of yours that has set stage to so many of your dreams; when you finally get to rendezvous with your past!
