Replacement of LG and KT players in the Korean Series
The final list of the South Korean national team participating in the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) has been confirmed.
APBC will be held at Tokyo Dome in Japan for four days from the 16th. APBC, which marks its second anniversary since 2017, will include Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia. After four teams play the full league, the top two teams will reach the final and compete for the title. Korea finished second in the first competition.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said on the 12th, “The KBO Power Enhancement Committee, manager Ryu Joong-il, and coaching staff will replace all LG and KT players participating in the Korean Series,” adding, “We decided to select players who have been in the best condition among the preliminary entries we have trained in Daegu.”
Players who have been confirmed to be replaced are Jung Woo-young, Moon Bo-kyung (LG), and Park Young-hyun (KT), who are playing the Korean Series. Kang Baek-ho (KT), who was unable to play in the Korean Series due to injury, was also replaced.
Instead, pitchers Shin Min-hyuk (NC), Cho Byung-hyun (SSG), fielders Na Seung-yeop (Lotte), and Moon Hyun-bin (Hanwha) were included in the final entry.
KBO explained, “This is the result of a comprehensive judgment of the players’ physicality, performance, and condition.”
