Sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage

I was watching this movie We bought a zoo a while back and there was a scene where Matt Damon tells his son

Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage and I promise you, something great will come out of it.

I tried to apply this in my life and it was fun. So I would like to share this instance. It was 19th March and I was at a restaurant in Bangalore enjoying with my friends watching India vs Pakistan and there was deafening music in the restaurant. All the guys and girls were dancing and suddenly one of the waiter came and held the hand of one of the girls and started dancing with her and I was like I also want to do that. I also want to go and dance with someone I don’t know without any fear or judgement. At first I was terrified, What if she does not like me ? or What if I am not the type of the guy she wants to dance with ? but then I played that scene from the movie in my mind and waited for 20 seconds and then boom, I was dancing with this girl. I asked her name, it was Katrin and she asked mine.

I know it is no big deal but I thought of sharing it because I felt good that I overcame a fear, I pushed the radius of my comfort zone, no matter how small but I did something I could not do before. This event made me realise something:

Fear is just a state of mind.

Thank you Matt Damon.
