Clear something up for me, please. How do you reconcile the following?

Sex Scandals Shouldn’t Be Ousting Politicians

I agree

Who cares about a process when you’re dealing with, say, Democratic Rep. Eric Massa who, like Hill, resigned after a year in office because of accusations of groping male staffers? (He defended it as “tickling,” if you can believe it.) In 2017, Republican Rep. Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania, an opponent of legal abortion, pressed his mistress to terminate the pregnancy he caused. Murphy tried to stick around but quickly resigned. No one misses them.

You are quick to condemn Massa and Murphy, judging them unfit for office. Why do you assume no one misses them? Shouldn’t that be decided in an election, as you contend?

sex scandals should be up to the voters to decide because it’s how the country expresses what is its shifting moral calculus.

You and I largely agree on this issue but your judgment on these two Representatives stands out like a sore thumb. Help me out here. One further question: How do you feel about ousting public officials for sex scandals?

Ciao
