We are excited to share our February 2018 update with all of you.

We are pleased to announce that Lampix is officially a member of the VR/AR Association (VRARA), an international organization designed to foster collaboration between innovative companies like Lampix with people in the VR and AR ecosystem to:

  • Accelerate growth;
  • foster research and education;
  • further develop industry standards;
  • connects member organizations; and
  • promote the services of member companies.

This is yet another step in our march to introduce Augmented Reality desktop computing to the world, and a vital means for Lampix to engage the AR Developer community and build excitement for our Kickstarter Dev Kit launch.

HARDWARE

  • After identifying several pain points in the design and manufacturability of Lampix, we are planning engineering sessions with experts from Dragon Innovation to tackle and eliminate each one as soon as possible. Dragon Innovation is an industry leader in helping bring hardware devices to market.
  • Our supplier list for major electronic components, along with pricing and lead times, has been completed.
  • We have put together our requirements and manufacturing strategy, and are currently sending RFQs to several factories capable of producing our product.
  • We have also recently identified a logistics partner that works with U.S. fulfillment facilities, which we will work with to deliver the Lampix Developer Edition to our Kickstarter backers.
  • We are continuously working to improve the capabilities of Lampix. Consistent with this pursuit, we are happy to announce our successful integration of a recently-released depth-sensing camera, which we will use in production and our current prototype.
  • With each new prototype, we are updating features to optimize the cost, manufacturing, and assembly of Lampix. Part of this process has also included the confirmation of manufacturing-friendly designs for the integration of a speaker, shade, and RGB LED functionality.
  • Additionally, we have designed and are currently testing the power distribution PCBA for Lampix. Lastly, with regard to hardware updates, we are preparing to make a splash with our newly-designed and tested “ceiling hanging” mount for Lampix later this month at South by Southwest (SXSW).

TECH

  • Our Brasov team has grown again with the addition of another Lampix app developer.
  • On February 12, we released lampix.js, which contains new and easier-to-use interfaces as well as some utility functions to make app development easier.
  • Updates on our current training app, which showcases the PIX Ecosystem and Lampix, is a work in progress. We have included the the following photo as a sneak peek.
  • Another work in progress with regard to technology is testing of the optional high resolution camera module, which would be useful for OCR on smaller fonts and other high resolution classification apps.
  • For developers who would like to create apps without a Lampix of their own, we are actively improving the Lampix API simulator. Updates to the interface and its overall stability are planned.
  • Insofar as enhancing existing apps is concerned, we have added a new special classificator for icon-based symbols (like drink coasters).
  • Additionally, we have continued researching distributed storage options for PIX ecosystem datasets.
  • While continuing work with a handful of POC clients in parallel, we have also worked to implement and test the newly integrated realsense module.

OPERATIONS

The Lampix team in New York has grown by two this month.

  • Tricia Lall has joined the team as our new Director of Sales. She brings a wealth of experience in B2B sales to the growing Lampix team. Most recently, Tricia worked for Infinite Group, which offers virtualization and cybersecurity solutions. Tricia holds a MS in Management/Cybersecurity from Colorado Technical University. Originally from Florida, she will will be moving from Rochester to NYC in the near future.
  • Another addition to the Lampix team in New York is Nicole Jesson as Administrative Director. Nicole’s experience in corporate administration and management is a welcome addition as we scale the company. She has been part of several startups including Massive Incorporated and Brash Entertainment (both of which focused around video games), Emergent Payments in e-commerce, and Recombine and Phosphorus in biotech. Also an actor, Nicole can be seen in Ted 2, Central Intelligence and Patriots’ Day (if you look very closely).

OTHER

  • Lampix continues to actively seek exchanges on which to list the PIX token. We are currently on the listing schedule of an additional exchange in the near future. This exchange is in the top 20 cryptocurrency exchanges in the world.

MARKETING

  • We are ecstatic to report significant progress towards the launch of our Kickstarter campaign in March. One vital aspect of this project is the video for Kickstarter, which is still in production. To date, filming, which has included both interviews and Lampix demo footage, has taken place in multiple international locations and includes contributions by thought leaders in the Blockchain and Immersive Media spaces as well as major App Development companies.
  • We have additional plans for the month of March, and believe our followers will be very happy to learn more when the time comes.
  • On February 20th, Lampix hosted another event in NYC. The event was a success in a number of ways. A filled-to-capacity crowd of VIPs, blockchain and AR enthusiasts, and a handful of developers joined us for the speaker and live demo sessions.
  • Lampix wrapped up the month at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona, where the Lampix team joined a crowd of over 100,000 attendees. In addition to having our own booth for live demos, Lampix’s new Vice President of Marketing, Gordon Meyer, was a featured speaker slot at the event.
  • Within less than two week’s time, a handful of Lampix team members will make their way to Austin, TX for this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW). There, Gordon Meyer also has a speaking opportunity in which he will discuss augmented reality and promote the Lampix brand. Gordon will also host a SXSW official Meet Up for AR Developers. We also have some exciting things planned for SXSW but our followers will have to stay tuned to learn more about those VIP happenings.
