A couple of things that the article you mention made me think about.

First, I am a believer of whole plants — the research cited looks primarily at curcumin (one of the main ingredients). Just like with other plants, we can’t always be certain what produces the main effect, and to be honest, in majority of the cases it is probably the synergy between multiple compounds.

I also wanted to point out to you is all the research cited throughout my post. There are many people that evaluated turmeric for different indications - sometimes it works, other times not so much, but the magnitude of positive research on this plant is pretty impressive.
