GSoC-24 @ The Julia Language !!
Google Summer Of Code with The Julia Language.
This article highlights the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program, my excitement about being selected for GSoC 2024, a brief overview of my proposal, and also thank all my well-wishers who helped me through this journey.
On May 1st, 2024, I anxiously awaited the GSoC results at 11:30 PM, repeatedly refreshing my email inbox. At 11:25, my heart started racing. When 11:30 arrived without a new email, a sudden chill ran down my spine. Despite the anxiety, I continued scrolling, confident in the hard work I had put in over the past five months. Finally, at 11:34, I received the email:
Wuuhuu! My proposal has been accepted for Google Summer of Code 2024, and I am thrilled to be working with the incredible organization, The Julia Programming Language.
As soon as I saw the news, I immediately thanked God for his kindness and for rewarding my hard work. Then, I called my parents to share the news and receive their blessings. And also my seniors Raghuvendra Gupta for his continuous motivation.
I also messaged my mentor, jacob zelko , to inform him of my selection, and he was just as thrilled. I want to express my gratitude to Jacob, who has been incredibly supportive throughout the entire selection process. From reviewing my past contributions and patiently guiding me through my mistakes, to helping me draft my proposal, his support has been invaluable. He himself is a great Julia fellow, check it out here.
I am looking forward to spending a fantastic summer working with him!
Just to summaries in short about my project, My project is titled as: Developing tools for observational Health Research in Julia. During this I will be working on developing a new package called OMOPCDMPathways. This package will be designed for deployment in research projects, particularly those related to health and medical data analysis. In nutshell, Patient pathways outline a patient’s care process, from initial contact to
subsequent future patient and health provider interactions. And the database we are using is the OMOPCDM-Database.
Thanks for reading! I’ll soon share my preparation journey for those applying for GSoC in the future. Additionally, I’ll post updates on the work I’ll be doing during the GSoC period.
PS: This is the first post of my GSoC series, in fact, my first blog on medium, so do let me know your thoughts on it.
Stay tuned and happy coding !
