IconInc to Bring Luxury Student Accommodation to Glasgow

Following the successful launch of IconInc’s seven-star £20m Gravity development in Lincoln in September 2020, Leeds-based IconInc has today announced that it will create up to 140 luxury apartments in Glasgow by September 2023. The new accommodation will be located on the former Lorne Hotel site in Finnieston. The deal forms part of IconInc’s ambitious plans to introduce developments in all major university cities in the UK and Europe.

The move comes after IconInc secured a major national award — ‘Best Luxury Student Accommodation Provider’ by Build 2020 Real Estate Property Awards.

Noor Ahmed, Head of IconInc, explained: “We’re delighted that our future vision for expansion is taking shape with firm plans in place to introduce the brand to Glasgow as well as extending the development in Lincoln. Offering design-led, superior quality and affordable accommodation is at the heart of what we are all about and we strive to provide the best possible experience of student life. We are currently in a number of high-level discussions for other future sites and have further ambitious plans to replicate the success of our four existing properties. We believe there is nothing that rivals our incredible accommodation and know there is a huge demand for luxury student living.”

IconInc is the UK’s trailblazer in luxurious apartments with exceptional facilities for students. Other locations include The Ascent in Liverpool, and The Edge and The Glassworks in Leeds. The company creates spaces that push the boundaries in terms of inspirational, design-led living for students. The impressive venues feature engaging and exciting design elements including individually-themed lounges created by a leading interior designer; bespoke furniture handcrafted in the UK and impressive artwork featuring quotes from global icons.

The concept behind this unique brand is to offer students an all-inclusive home from home experience, combining premium quality living accommodation with outstanding communal facilities designed to nurture community spirit and provide the optimum space for students to learn and enjoy. Safety is paramount — as well as providing support staff who are fully trained in first aid and mental health, the venue includes a 24-hour concierge service and CCTV.

First class amenities exceed all expectations and the communal spaces available are truly exceptional. Facilities include state-of-the-art gyms with personal trainers available; 4k HD cinema rooms with popcorn machine; amphitheatres ideal for practicing presentations or for external speakers to host events; sauna and steam rooms; complimentary breakfast seven days a week; 24/7 free hot drinks; private dining rooms; chill out pods; pantries; laundry rooms; pool tables and PlayStations; iMac zones; libraries and lounges; beauty treatment rooms; communal kitchens; high-tech music rooms with karaoke machines; and outdoor patio areas with barbeques.

In addition, IconInc offers a carefully curated community and events programme that helps nurture an inclusive and thriving student community and enhance the students’ living experience. This added value service is extremely popular with international students who are looking to immerse themselves in the great British culture. Gravity in Lincoln has recently been named as a finalist for ‘Best Commercial Build’ in the Northern Design Awards 2021 and was shortlisted for the LABC Building Excellence Award 2021 for ‘Best Purpose Built Accommodation’. The awards coincide with IconInc achieving 100 percent occupancy levels for year two at Gravity.

On the back of the success of Gravity, IconInc is also delighted to unveil plans for a second phase development in Lincoln — Todson House — having purchased vacant land adjacent to the existing building. This second phase will provide an additional 41 apartments set to be completed in September 2023.

At Gravity, there are seven types of luxury stylish studios to choose from to meet specific budgets including the unique and exceptional duplex apartments and exclusive penthouse apartment. Each studio benefits from zoned luxury living, entertaining and resting spaces; beautiful en-suite bathrooms, complete with proper bath; indulgent kitchen with all the extras including a dining table; and a separate study space to help students focus on work. And it’s all in the detail — from soft as a cloud 1000 pocket sprung mattresses; black-out blinds; sound proof doors; to waterfall showers.

Katie Armitage, a 2nd year student studying at the University of Lincoln, said: “These are fabulous apartments — so spacious and stylish. All the staff are very friendly and always willing to go the extra mile! The close location to Lincoln high street and university makes it especially convenient, not to mention the fact that the stunning Lincoln cathedral is a mere ten-minute walk away! I would highly recommend this accommodation to any student in Lincoln — even if just for the delicious, complimentary breakfast and hot drinks!
