Shrinking the size of transistors has driven Moores Law but we’re reaching a physical limit to transistor density. Transistors are so close together that the additional heat generated counteracts any performance gains. The latest Skylake chip has been delayed many times and has already broken Moores cycles. In 6–8 years we will actually reach transistors which are made up of single atoms-the true physical limit of our current computing paradigm.
