SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS.
Modern life is full of stress. Deadlines at work, maintaining that bikini body, parenting,things to do at home and fitting in the globalized world. We tend to focus on fixing things but no matter how much we fix, something new is always waiting to be resolved.
In the midst of all this, we forget to really enjoy the little things of life. Likereally relaxing, with nothing to worry about. Or having a good laugh with family or friends. Or just doing something small and silly for the sake of doing it!
Being stress-free is a goal that can be achieved without alot of costs. Here are few things to do regulary to be more at ease:
1.Get enough time to sleep. Inadequate sleep can affect our productivity, mental and physical health as well energy levels.
2.Build your social network.
In times of distress, when we feel inadequate to deal with the crisis, help from family and friends can mean a lot. Remember "I can’t, but together we can". It also helps us to look at the problem from a different perspective and develop hope. Connecting with others always keep bad energy away.
3.Take some time out for yourself.
While staying connected with others is important, it is equally important to spend time with yourself, alone. Get to know yourself. Meditation is a good way to discover your inner self. If you are comfortable with yourself, you’ll be comfortable with others. Sometimes, being in our own physical space, doing nothing helps clear out clutter from the mind and helps to rejuvanate.
4.Leave work on time.
We usually rush to be at work on time but in order to complete deadlines we tend to stay back late. It’s important to divide between work, family and personal time otherwise we tend to get 'burnt out' leading to various illnesses. Also, leave work at work otherwise the stress spills over into our personal lives. If u really manage your time effectively you will finish your work on time.
5.Eat healthy.
Avoid junk food and fizzy drinks. Reduce intake of sugar. Eat more veggies, fruits and drink plenty of water. Remember, you are what you eat, so eat healthy.
6.Stay active. Today’s lifestyle invites us to remain lazy – TV, phones, ipads, couches, elevators, uber, food deliveries. We must ensure that there is movement. Skip the lift and take the stairs. Walk whenever possible. Leave your chair at work and go out to stretch for 5 minutes. On weekends, go to the neighborhood park for a stroll.
7. Ask for help. Don’t be afraid to seek help from your colleagues, spouse or mentor. Dealing with stress alone can be challenging at times, open your hands and ask for help. If stress and anxiety persists, talk to your doctor or Psychologist .
8. Allow yourself to fail. No one is perfect, I know you know this but a little reminder won’t hurt. Learn to embrace failure and learn from it. Perfectionism can always cause you stress and anxiety.
