Intro
As the place where you start and end each day, your bedroom is tailor-made to help you rewind and recharge for the day. There are many components that contribute to creating a restful space, such as the mattress, lighting, window treatment, bedding, and noise. For most of these products, it will take time to identify solutions that are high-quality, effective, within your budget, and fitting towards your lifestyle.
In this article, I will share my experience of how I have incorporated eucalyptus into my bedroom decor. I will also share photos that I pulled from Pinterest to help inspire you in creating your dream bedroom.
What is Eucalyptus?
Eucalyptus is a type of evergreen tree well known for its distinct minty scent and luscious green color. This beautiful plant goes well with everything. The best part is that eucalyptus retains moisture well and can lasts for many weeks without wilting. There are hundreds of species of Eucalyptus and the most popular types for home decor are the following:
- Baby Blue Eucalyptus
- Silver Dollar Eucalyptus
- Willow Eucalyptus
My Experience
For a while, I didn’t realize the difference that fresh eucalyptus can make in a room. Because I used to travel a lot and experience too many failed attempts at growing succulents, I relied on plastic plants to achieve my plant decor goals. While the plants helped me achieve the right aesthetics, I couldn’t help but feel dissatisfied with my plant choice. Looking at plastic plants reminded me that these items are fake and plastic. It made me feel inauthentic. I began developing this fear of being lazy or a fraud.
However, this past year, I found a better option after I accidentally left one of our eucalyptus bouquets in my bedroom. It brought so much joy into my life that I never removed it. In fact, I began adding other greeneries like lavender and dried willow pussy around the room. The florals truly created a relaxing atmosphere in my bedroom. I now enjoy indulging in this space that I have created for myself. Here are some photos of my current bedroom plant decor:
How to create a Eucalyptus arrangement
First and foremost, you need to decide on a vessel to hold your plant. You may already have vases or containers lying around. Simple things like jars, pencil holders, and mugs can make excellent vases for eucalyptus. However, if you would like a new vase, find a vase that has a color and texture compatible the theme of your room as well as the plant.
Next, decide how much eucalyptus you want in your room. If you are placing this plant on a side table, you may have limited space and should find a thinner, smaller vase to hold a couple strands of eucalyptus. If you are planning on placing your eucalyptus on a larger surface, such as a dresser or window sill, you may have room to use a large jug or vase that can hold multiple stems of eucalyptus. If your eucalyptus is fresh, do not forget to add some fresh water and change it out every couple days.
