While I agree with most of the points in your article, your data on exercise is inaccurate. Yes you can run on a treadmill or elliptical for an hour and watch tv but you’re not really exercising. In order to truly reap any benefit — as you stated — you must dedicate focus to that particular activity. Same with “exercise”. You’re better off lifting weights for a focused, dedicated 20–30m increment than mindlessly jogging along on a treadmill for an hour which barely raises your heart level. In order to maximize the health benefits of “exercise” you HAVE TO raise your heart level — every, single, time. When you raise your heart level, you have to focus on what you’re supposed to be focusing on — your BODY. Movement. Breath. yada yada. Take time for yourself. Multitask elsewhere.
