5 patients last shift.
One is a kind gentleman who always says, “thank you, my friend” for whatever it was we were doing for him. So, every time he requests us for something, we don’t hesitate (as much) responding to his whims. Gratitude and kindness definitely goes a long way even in professional relationships.
5 patients last shift. One patient refused to take most of her meds except those for pain and the antibiotic. She made her point, I can only advocate on her behalf. She didn’t want to take the additional nutrition thru her veins. I made a deal with her that she has to finish her hospital food.
3 +1 patients last shift. One good sign that I’m doing the right thing is that my patients’ relatives start to ask me to check their vital signs. I always agree to do it cheerfully because it opens opportunities to make my job easier and also teach them how to take care of themselves and each other.
