Renée Cherez while I am no fan of Issa Ray (for multiple reasons that I will someday write about) or her acting abilities, I definitely agree with the points you raise in this piece and appreciate you taking the time to express the reality of Black love. I too love Black love and having been happily married (with a small son) for three years to my strong and great Black man he and I try hard to practice what we preach. Neither my husband or I saw or experienced real, lasting, or healthy Black love growing up or in our previous relationships so it’s not easy (especially in the “swirling” culture that we now live in) and takes a lot of work with all the outside (white supremacy) pressures as Afro-Americans but it is a burden that we welcome not just for ourselves but so that we can continue to be an example of (married) Black love for all of those around us and for those coming behind us. Keep up the great work:-)
