I’ve found many (if not all) established programmers are more than generous with their time and help. Even as a beginner, I had people helping me through everything.

I think because I recognized how much people have helped me, I’m always happy to help beginners too. None of us would be where we are without the support of others, so I love paying it forward.

As a beginner I think the biggest thing you can do, as I mentioned in the article, is to be independent. Showing a real effort on your own counts for a lot. If you show experienced folks around you that kind of effort, they’ll be more than happy to lend a hand. ✊
