How can we learn from our past if we don’t have the guts to document our present? “The contents of an archive are a political decision.” Americans should demand greater transparency and accountability from their representatives in Congress and the White House, who set the rules about how we treat asylum seekers. All too often, the U.S. government is not upholding the same human rights standards it sets for regimes abroad.
