Shadows

The rain came down in sheets – creating a world of blue and grey. The air was crisp and cool causing little puffs of smoke to appear when breathing. It was cold – but not cold enough for snow. And yet… we had not even hit old hallows eve.

Some say.. the devils in the rain causing it to go cold. Ice cold. But others pretend they don’t see the onset of sudden weather change. The world going cold – before the spirits of the world enter back into this plane.

The flash of thunder and lightening creating shapes that caused one to pause and stare. The clouds filled the sky with their dark foreboding silhouettes. The noise causing the animals and birds to hide.

In the silence – the rain dominated and created its own music. You stare at the picture before you, silently stirring your tea and wonder what comes out when everything has gone inside. So peaceful ….you catch your eyes darting darting to something that moved in the distance. You freeze – waiting to see what moves, but you are met with stillness.

The stillness is deafening. Your body tensed waiting to run.. but nothing happens. Tick… tick.. tick… the rhythm of the clock could not be heard before, but now it’s all you hear. Time slowing down..causing everything to go still. You come to realize that it was just a dream and nothing moved.

You smile in relief… and began stirring your tea once again.

… then a whispers says,” your dead!”
