Coming from the design field, social and emotional aspects of the human brain are interesting, especially in the context of empathic design and user experience design. Interestingly both American philosopher and psychologist William James (1842–1910), and current American neuroscientist LeDoux, stated in their own words that emotions are known by everyone until they are asked to be defined. This is also true in design as creating products and experiences that induce a certain emotional appeal is hard because it is difficult to pin-down an emotion. In modern cognitive science, it is agreed that emotion comprises of three components — cognition…

Human centered design (HCD) and neuroscience are two disciplines as far from each other as any two subjects and generally not to be discussed in the same sentence. But they have more in common than one might think. Both study humans and their behaviors in relation to the world around them. While human centered design practices emphasize on producing reliable solutions for services and products, neuroscience considers the inner workings of the brain and the nervous system to understand biological reasons behind actions and behavior. HCD wants to understand human actions and behaviors in relation to a design problem and…

House-training a pug when living in an apartment building

Oh, what a day Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 was. Mummy was the happiest person in the world when she saw me, Mishti, for the first time around 1 pm. Because of the state lockdown for COVID-19, the breeder brought me over, and I got into her arms in the driveway. Don’t mind me saying, but I was the cutest little bundle ever! I’m quite the little furry fluff ball with eyes like the Disney character “Puss in Boots”. I can melt anyone's heart and hypnotizing you completely.

The COVID-19 spring had forced working from home and apparently, my mummy had…

The horrible truth about dog poop and why you need to pick it up

Pssst… hey you… yes, you. I need to tell you about my morning. I really need to get this out and off my chest. I was on a lovely walk and came across the most repugnant pile of shit. Quite literally. Sorry about the language.

On a typical day, I’d just go for it, sniffing and enjoying the scent. But not today. I remembered what would follow. Mummy would force that horrid deworming medication on me. The poison! I can’t. I will not have it. No one wants to go through that every few months. …

Pug puppy Mishti prays to be saved

Lick… Lick… Hi, I’m a black pug, Mishti. Thought I’d give you a kiss to start with as I’m new here and out to make friends. ❤ I love to share ‘tails’ of my feats and some troubling thoughts that have crept up lately. Don’t worry I’ll try to be the perfect little princess about it. Just like I am with mummy. I make her life a loving tired mess, but hey I’m still learning. You don’t call me a puppy for nothing.

Let’s get to the point. Because I need to tell you about my morning. I really need…

House-training a pug when living in an apartment building

You know that sweet aroma of brown fresh extract just after waking up, at the brink of dawn. When you’ve barked your servants awake to let them know you need to go pee-pee pronto. Finding that sweet fragrance that wakes you up from your grogginess to a new day. When you taste those brown little pebbles and chew those fresh treats. That’s when you really know it’s going to be a good day. That’s what I call the best of mornings.

That is until mummy freaks out and starts forcing her hand down my throat. Screaming “NO… NO… Leave it……

Free Christmas card template to print and share with loved ones

Can you believe it? There are so many of these colorfully wrapped toys under this fragrant tree from outside. How did they know I’d love to have some of the outside in. All those wrapped boxes too. I want to tear them all to bits. I want to eat that tree! Just let me have them all. NOW! All… please… please mummy. I know they’re all for me. Why else would you place them on the floor and out in the open? Mine… mine… all mine…

Oh my… Oh wow…
What do we have here?
Is it a treat,
for a trick
or all…

And I know best… because “Mishti nose best” always!

Lick… lick… and now we’re best friends forever too! I’m Mishti, a black pug, full of joy and mischief. I’m here to tell you all about my adventures and how I make my owner's life a loving tired mess. My mummy and assistant (a.k.a owner) might complain at times about my poop gifts by the door or criticize the wonderous treats I try to catch for her on our walks. But don’t let that fool you, I’m the sweetest little princess. I’m always out to please and make new friends. I affectionately jump at passersby, rush to meet new dogs…
