Why I Left the Right: How Studying Religion Made Me a Liberal
Susie Meister

I find it interesting that you can identify yourself with either group. I completely agree with many of your comments about how conservatives can overlook glaringly obvious defects in character in order to choose a candidate they think will win, I suppose most people are forced to choose the lesser of the evils when voting. And I agree that the Jesus I know “ was a champion of the poor, the weak, the meek, and downtrodden. He encouraged his followers to “sell their possessions” and give them to the poor. He hung out with hookers and crooks. The lifestyle of Jesus didn’t look anything like the politics of the Right.”these are my favorite parts about him. But he I find it a hard thought to swallow that he would be okay with some of the liberal ideologies such as pro-choice. I don’t particularly think that the lifestyle of Jesus looked a whole lot like either party. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and view from the inside, I know it isn’t easy.
