interesting that the author didn’t mention that the NY orthodox community has its own police force. they rarely interact with NYPD, except in uhm, charitable contributions. outsiders are so outside its not even considered possible to go to them. The orthodox community are also enthusiastic users of WIC, and other social programs, because of their very large families. (I have nothing against children eating. But when the father of the child wears a ritually required, $6000.00 fur hat, so that he is dressed as a man in 19th century Poland would be, it makes me think the system could use some tweaking)

The Orthodox Jews are, in many way. a fundamentalist sect. Their children attend religious schools, run by them. Their marriages are arranged. Their faith is absolute, and if you leave the community- you are gone. You are dead to them. These are not the Jews you know, at work or school or anywhere else. It is a world unto its own.

While an interesting piece, Id like to see more depth, because, like the agents mother, I feel like saying, we are not all like this. This is not normal.
