I’m Here!

A 3:00 a.m. alarm started off my day. I kissed my sleeping ‘babies’ goodbye and made it to the airport in plenty of time to get ‘felt up’ in airport security. Who knew Spanx cause “suspiciousness in the groin area”… A full pat down ensued.
Wow, some serious ‘action’ all before 5:00 a.m.
By 7:30, I arrived at the Gaylord National in DC for CPAC 2016 — with my agenda printed out and highlighted in pink (of course).
Dana Loesch opened the morning with the un-sugar coated conservative clarity that Dana does so well. She likened the conservative movement to a big, giant dysfunctional family. She encouraged the crowd, that if they don’t like the people at the top of this race, they should change it… “Speak louder and earlier”. She continued by saying, “ …the hearts of Americans are hardened and people suck at messaging! No one’s opinion has ever changed by cap locks or an eye roll gif.”
Dana was only the beginning of the anti-Trump narrative that has continued all day. She asked the audience to prayerfully and carefully consider not going for revenge. “Don’t choose to burn down the bridge. Our families are all on that bridge.”
After Dana, I decided to take a walk where I found The Blaze and Glenn Beck broadcasting live. Glenn, of course, is loved and hated. I have been an avid listener since 2007. Sure, he has had his crazy crying moments, but overall, he is on point and I highly respect his viewpoints. He has inspired me to become a better, more informed, citizen and patriot.
Because of his 9/12 Project, I ran a Patriot Camp to teach American history and promote patriotism to elementary children. I truly respect him. I listened to him broadcast for a bit and was encouraged to hear him speaking about the appalling comments from Trump regarding his notion to kill terrorist families. What is more appalling is Trump’s comment back to the military members who said they wouldn’t comply with those illegal orders. In case you haven’t heard the audacity from Trump his response was, “They won’t refuse me.”
Holy crap! Trump scares the hell out of me!
Next on my agenda was a speech from “The Great One,” Mark Levin. His speech was fantastic, not to mention his bump music: GnR’s “Sweet Child Of Mine.” (That’s the way to this girl’s heart.) Levin continued the anti-Trump theme with a fantastic speech on Reagan summing up the idea that Trump is not a conservative because, “Conservatism is not phrases that have no content. It is not Populism.”
He closed out his speech, with huge applause, after saying, “We can win if we do what we haven’t done since 1984. We need to nominate a true, solid, principled, unapologetic conservative.” ‘To make America great again,’ which is a phrase coined by Reagan, we MUST get behind the most conservative candidate.”
At this point in the day; because I had been up for 9 hours already, I was famished. I made the huge mistake of exiting past security to find food. The wait to get back in through security was two hours! Since my husband is lighting this event, I’m lucky enough to get special access. I went through Secret Service security, through the staff entrance. Woo-who, more ‘feeling up’!
I’m back in…. Waiting for Kasich, Michele Malkin, Cruz and Carson.
….. To be continued
