This Week I Learned…Health is your First Wealth
Week 1
I started feeling under the weather last Thursday. That initial bug quickly spiraled into full-on misery; coughing uncontrollably, sneezing, mucus, migraines, body chills, night sweats etc. Despite the way I felt, I pushed myself to keep working. “Have to pay the bills,” I told myself, or, “Nothing stops the hustle.” I even told myself to “Be strong” when my body physically couldn’t have been weaker. I was then diagnosed with a combination of bronchitis and sinusitis by my doctor, who prescribed a laundry list of medication to bring me back to health.
I learned this week that health, truly is my first wealth. We can do nothing well operating at 50%
As important as it is to “Rise and Grind” (thanks to Daymond John and my latest read The Power of Broke for my newest colloquial phrase), I can’t let my ambition and hunger for success keep me from being kind to myself. It’s hard for me to genuinely allow myself to rest. My health and sanity, however, are worth the sacrifice.
Find time to rest this week.
