I still remember on a social occasion a friend of mine pointed at me saying, “How dare you eat a piece of cake when you get fat?” My hand, which was about to reach the food froze in the air and in shame. I was plump, but I was in perfect health. I had no confidence to say it out loud. I still remember how hard I tried my best to lose weight and look thin by swimming and eating little. I made it sometimes. I lost it more. I was not happy because I didn’t know then my body was a precious gift that I should appreciate and enjoy being with. That was more than 20 years ago.
Thank you, my Fat Friend, for verbalizing our breakthrough as well as our battle!
