Bruce “Caitlyn” Jenner

If I told you
“I was born in the wrong body”
What would you say?

If I told you
“I can’t pretend to be something I’m not, my soul is different, my brain is different. I’m not supposed to be in this body.”

What if I then told you

“I believe my soul and my brain is that of a black person. That although I am a caucasian woman, inside I am black.”

Ridiculous isn’t it?

Because who defines what a black soul is, who defines what a woman’s soul is, society does. That’s why Bruce Jenner isn’t confused, I believe society is — — if you don’t fit into a category, you get left behind.

What if I made the decision to have racial reassignment surgery. Is bleaching my skin, going to make me a hero? No it’s not.

Because dismantling, mutilating and modifying how you look has nothing to do with who you are. You were born in this body for a reason, and body modification, synthetic chemicals and editing yourself into who you believe you need to be is not who you are.

Bruce was born a man, he will die a man. I am a woman, through biology and that is what gives me the right to call myself a woman. Not how I dress, or speak or walk or breathe.

When did society become pro body modification,
“If I look a certain way I’ll be happier.”

Thank you Bruce, now I’ve learned that when you don’t like something about yourself — — you should change it. What’s the moral
“Changing how you look will make you happier”

If that was the case, I would be on board with surgery. Why? Because it would be an answer to a struggle that many people around the world go through.

However I have done my research and I can say with confidence that it’s not the answer. A 2011 study at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden produced results regarding the transgendered. The long-term study (30 years) followed 324 people who had sex-reassignment surgery. The study revealed that by 10 years after having the surgery, the transgendered began to experience increasing mental difficulties. Their suicide mortality increased almost 20-fold above the comparable nontransgender population.

Wake up, look at statistics. Transgender suicide attempts are staggering, and why? Because when they look in the mirror, they’re not themselves. Their identity no longer exists.

I feel for Bruce, I could not imagine what it’s like feeling trapped, and I will support what makes him happy, (if this is what it has to come to.) But I will not call him a hero for shaving down his throat and wearing a pair of high heels. You do not get to create a new version of yourself, through surgical and chemical enhancements.

Maybe I’m allowing my Chrstian beliefs (oh no call the police!) to play a part in my thoughts, but we were born into our bodies for a reason, and there’s a purpose and plan for Bruce’s struggle but changing your physical apperance cannot be the answer.

I have watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians since I was 14 years old, through how Bruce was portrayed it is evident that he hasn’t been happy even through the cameras trying to depict something different. I know it’s not a marketing scam, (although his net worth is expected to triple.) His story is real, a man since he was a young boy knew there was something different about him, he has been psychologically struggling for too long.

By Bruce Jenner becoming “female” he has decided that he needs to cosmetically alter who he is to fit into the perception of how a female looks. If you believe you are different than be different, don’t tell people you have a woman’s brain and soul. I haven’t opened a dictionary in awhile but the last time I checked there’s no Oxford definition for what a woman’s soul feels like.

Bruce is not a hero, a hero is someone who does something for the greater good. A hero in my books is sacrifice, losing something for the compassion of others. He has lost nothing, he is only gained the world’s attention and increased his bank account.

He is a man who suffers from body dysmorphic disorder and is learning how to cope, if he believes turning into Caitlyn is his answer, I do hope so. I hope this is his cure, he was lucky enough to have the money to do so but it won’t be the answer for the rest of the world.
