replace dull but necessary items with ones that fill the necessity but also bring you joy — prettier silverware, cuter clothes, etc. Yeah, everyone can afford to do that.
I’ve enjoyed doing the KonMari thing and I recommend it pretty highly, but it definitely did occur…

Also this puts you on a perpetual quest for a joyful toaster which I’m certain does not exist. You’re always looking for the new thing and you’ll never be happy with what you have. I went the other way when I KonMari’d and learned to really appreciate the functional but boring items in my life. My takeaway was don’t go buying new stuff all the time because that leads to clutter/junk, appreciate what you have and get rid of stuff that is unnecessary and actively makes you sad.
