I deeply dislike the “I think what I paid is a fair price” argument. This is EXACTLY the argument used to under pay workers (especially creative professionals and freelancers) for their work. If he had just said, “I am on the IBR, my payment is currently zero due to my income and it makes the most sense for me to wait the 25 years for loan forgiveness because that’s how the system was designed to work” I would not criticize that. The system is designed to work like that. It’s all the other stuff that bothers me.
