A Love Affair With Apps
I am constantly downloading apps, to the point that I hit the Play Store about twice a day browsing every category looking for anything that may make my life easier.
Naturally, all my devices are loaded with the common apps: Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Facebook Pages… the normal everyday social apps you’d find on a device for a social media manager.
My real love affair is with Medium, Buffer, Slack, IFTTT. Those are my go to apps that keep me organized.
Medium: even if you aren’t a writer, it’s worth your time. With a community covering almost any subject imagined- it’s a great place to learn about various topics and interact with a userbase that is a few notches about the “omg I got engaged” status updates of that girl you went to college with.
Buffer: I share a huge amount of content, but due to my personal schedule, I’m usually finding the content at times that aren’t exactly compatible with my audiences. Buffer let’s me post across my social networks on a schedule I can set to maximize viewability within my selected networks. Are my FB fans enaging at different times than my LinkedIn contacts? Not an issue, just schedule posts to match the network.
Slack: just trust me….find a slack community or make one for your co-workers and you’ll thank me.
IFTTT: I live by this. It does everything from change the background on my phone to texting my kids that I’m 5 minutes from home, to sharing my Medium recommended posts over to Twitter. It can email my SO when my car is due for an oil change (with help from Dash) and post weather updates on my Facebook.
What apps are your lifelines? Are you a app hoarder, or stick to a small selection?
