I think that knowing Tomi’s reputation for rants, people expected her to steamroll Trevor Noah, and were delighted when he held his own and asked her the hard questions. After the Megyn Kelley and Jimmy Fallon interviews with Trump, which were pathetic, it was nice to see that TDS didn’t let up on Tomi Lahren.
I agree that there’s a danger of watching something and feeling like now you don’t have to do anything because other people already did. If white people called out their racist friends like Trevor Noah did to Tomi Lahren, white people wouldn’t be so comfortable expressing hateful views.
In reality, the type of people who watch Tomi Lahren’s show are the kind of people who already think TDS is a meaningless biased liberal show and won’t be affected by her interview. She appeals to emotion (anger), not logic. So while this interview was great, it was also “preaching to the crowd,” and that’s probably the reason for the gleeful response of white liberals.
