Youtube Video -

The Tom Ford Lips & Boys advert was created to celebrate the release of 25 new lipstick shades which were added to the existing line. The advert itself is bold, daring and challenges several social stigmas surrounding the subjects of male make up and body image. The use of a wide variety of models from different ethnic backgrounds shows diversity and will attract a wider audience. The flashing visuals and iamgery used throughout the advert are enticing, provocative and to some, controversial. These factors all make for a exceptional advert and will leave a lasting impression on viewers. The models look great and people will believe if they buy these lipsticks they will look great too. The use of a very catchy and popular song (Blur — Girls And Boys) reinforces the product name and entices viewers to watch the entire feature.

Website -

The website page for the Lips & Boys line can be found via the official Tom Ford website. The website layout is very user friendly and attractive. Each shade of lipstick is shown on a models lips and fills the entire page. as you scroll down some of the lips become “animated” and move. Such as smile or blow a kiss. This is a great way of advertising the products as you can see in great detail how each one looks, it also appeals to the current generation who want things quickly and with easy access. The overall appearance is sleek and modern with a clean cut white font being used to represent the shade names. The website also ties in very nicely with the youtube advert, using similar visuals and styles.

Promotional Imaging -

A photograph taken from the Lips & Boys advert used to promote the product online and on E-commerce websites. The graphic is visually striking and appealing. The landscape image allows the models to fit within the frame with just enough white showing in the background, this way the models contrast against the white and really stand out. The white also unifies with the text and creates unity. By having the models stare straight into the camera, a feeling of importance and urgency is created, and viewers find themselves captivated by the stare. The only bright colours in the photograph are the colours of the models lips, which again brings focus to the product itself, this also creates a focal point for the image. The classic Tom Ford logo is used with Lips & Boys underneath. The sans serif font is sleek and timeless, and appealing to a wide variety of people. It also keeps the photograph high end with a designer feel, which reinforces the brand as a whole.

Social Media -

The above images are examples of instagram posts made by Tom Ford in the run up to the release of the new Lips & Boys range. Other social networks such as facebook and twitter were actively used to promote the product launch and interact with the public. Tom Ford created the hashtag #TFLIPSANDBOYS which allowed fans to keep up to date on new information about the launch and this also created a new platform for people to discuss and express their opinions on the product. Tom Ford slowly realesed snippets of the advert and imagery surrounding the lipsticks in the rundown to the launch date on these social networks. This will only have increased hype for the product and gained Tom Ford new fans who may have stumbled across these posts by accident while browsing social media.
