Black children learn this when their parents give them “The Talk.” When they are sat down at the age of 5 or so and told that their best friend’s father is not sick, and not in a bad mood — he just doesn't want his son playing with you.

I think this is absolutely wrong that parents are giving their five-year-old these “talks.” This may be why prejudice gets passed down to future generations.

First of all, how do you know for sure this is the reason why a parent doesn’t want your child over their house? If it was my mother growing up — she wouldn’t want any other children over the house because it meant more work for her and more money to spend on another rugrat.

Perhaps, your assumption is wrong, and now, you just dirtied (and hurt) your way-too-young-for-information-like-this five-year-old’s mind about white people. Making him or her adopt this notion that “white people are out to get me.”

You’re literally ingraining an “us v. them” mentality at the ripe, innocent age of fucking five. That makes me mad.

Young people today are very open to all cultures so it’d be in parent’s — and their children’s — best interests to refrain from having these ridiculous talks with their five-year-olds. If they keep doing this then the prejudices and perceived assumptions are going to happen again and again.
