I do love a bit of prescriptivism with my morning tea ;)

I’ve often thought there seems to be a ready market for editors on the web. I can’t seem to get around the fact that most writers don’t get paid for what they write, so they would have no money for an editor, not to mention that publish-with-a-click platforms discourage editing.

(Despite the occasional redundancy, I’m actually a professional editor.)

But yes, there is some, maybe even a lot, of bad writing out there, mine included. I wish I agreed with you less, since I don’t like the clubbiness of “good writers only.” (What would that even mean?)

Of course, only you can choose what you read. I hope that freedom leads you toward the promotion of high quality writing and away from discouraging young learners. May the Fourth be with you as you do.
