Lauren Naylor — Grapevine, Texas Explains What’s New at Disney Resorts for 2019

Walt Disney World is where dreams are made. Whether you are a kid or an adult, if you’re a big Disney fan, you will be happy to know that they continually expand the park and add new attractions, especially as the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World is in 2021. To go over everything that is now open and opening throughout the rest of 2019, we spoke to Disney super fan Lauren Naylor of Grapevine Texas.

Animal Kingdom

The first set of changes is to Animal Kingdom. Pandora — World of Avatar, is the newest land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and biggest in over a decade at Walt Disney World. Lauren Naylor explains that even though this land is over a year old, Avatar Flight of Passage remains the most popular ride in all of Disney World. In addition, there are also two smaller offerings at Animal Kingdom, the first being “UP! A great bird Adventure”, which is a mix of characters from “Up” and bird species from around the world. Best of all, to celebrate The Lion King’s 25th anniversary, “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party” features Timon and Rafiki. You’ll be able to enjoy games, music and dancing with some of your favorite Disney characters.

Star Wars
If you are a Star Wars fan, you are in luck, as “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge” is opening August 29th, 2019. Lauren Naylor explains that this new section will include rides, restaurants, shopping, and a completely immersive experience for Star Wars fans. Some of these experiences include: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Fun Ride, Rise of the Resistance (opening later in 2019), Cantina Quick Serve, and Cantina Table Service Immersion Restaurant. There is also word that Chewbacca and potential Kylo Ren will be making appearances within the park.

The Runaway Railway

While the Great Movie Ride was recently retired (a Disney World classic!) and it disappointed many Disney fans, it has allowed a space for a new ride to open: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Housed in the Chinese Theatre with a new facade, this ride will start with a brand-new short cartoon, and it is rumoured that you pass through the movie screen and become part of the show with Goofy as your narrator. This will be the first ride ever built with Mickey Mouse as the centrepiece, so you won’t want to miss it.

Artist Point

If the rides aren’t enough to excite you, how about a character meal with Snow White at a surprisingly affordable price? Lauren Naylor explains that the Artist Point restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will allow you to meet the evil queen and finish your meal with a “poison” apple. This combination of good food and meet-and-greet opportunities is a rare one in Disney World, so we suggest checking it out!

Skyliner

Lastly, the Disney Skyliner will debut in late 2019, and will be one of the first aerial views that you don’t have to pay for connecting all the theme parks together. The Skyliner will also connect four Disney resort hotels to the park allowing attendees to have an easy route to the park each day.

Lauren Naylor hopes that these new attractions will either make your upcoming Walt Disney World trip even better, or make you reconsider your travel plans to ensure that you can visit the park this year.
