Wow... Could not have come on a better day. I used to be a devout runner and this was my go to when I was stressed. I gave up somewhere along the way and smoking replaced it. Bottom line, I gave up caring about myself bc I allowed external circumstances and ppl to dictate my perception of self in a negative way. Thanks for this. You have no idea how reading this validated that it is time for me to change. Rather than reengaging in the repetitive cycle of hurting myself when I feel a sense of inadequacy, I am going to begin to look at adding rather than subtracting. Best read of my morning.
