Freedom from Shame and Fear
Jeremy Affeldt

Thank you Jeremy. Although I was raised in a Christian home and currently attend a Christian university, I definitely needed to be reminded of that simple truth.

This past week, Biola University (my school) held a student conference regarding the topic of sin and shame. As students, we often try and carry our own burdens and hide from God because we can’t bear to see the look on His face when He notices that His children have sinned and fell short of the glory of God once again. But I have been reminded time and time again that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).” Ultimately, the moment Jesus died on the cross, He took our sin and shame upon His own back, so that we can live the life that he has called us to.

Thank you once again for helping me be reminded of the simple truth and that we are to go out and rejoice for God has saved us.
