Yes! The real small businesses (not the ones that raise millions from venture capitalists — which I’ve done too — but the ones that make it because from day one they know their customers and have something to offer of value). I’m especially interested in putting meat on all those “set-asides” for small businesses to access government contracts, loans, and grants. I have this crazy fantasy that our Small Business President will push through a program for nationwide infrastructure improvement using, yes, only small businesses. Cause if you let those contracts to big companies, a few displaced folks will have employment for a short period and then be out again. But if you do it with thousands of small businesses? Or what about gig economy? How might we help people forced into freelancing become a real business? I plan to start writing on the subject more and am so inspired that you are getting this message out.
