Xiaomi the next big thing

Xiaomi may have started it’s business with a rather risky and controversial Apple-aided designs and were branded as “Apple of China” for the same reasons. Their business model was surely a dangerous approach to success, baring in mind that Samsung had been slapped with over a billion dollar lawsuit over the use of some patents and copying some designs found on Iphone. Samsung being another giant could not be shaken by the Cupertino based tech giant’s lawsuits, since they had the finances to play each other in courts. The Chinese company had an advantage, because as a toddler in the new tech world, they were never considered a sueable threat, and was somehow protected by the anti foreign corporation Chinese laws.

Somehow it managed to outshine Apple and Samsung in Asia’s biggest market the following years. Now they have the Capital, the brand and stamina to venture into the dreaded American soil, classic case of bitting the hand that fed you. Apple being the pioneer, the Godfather and the mentor to most upcoming tech startups, now seem to have added a competitor to the already saturated and tough upper-class product category that Apple has been thriving on. Only this time, Xiaomi is determined to compete on Apple-grade quality products with much lower price tags.

Xiaomi has diversified it’s manufacturing to products like fitness bands, power banks, and even recently laptops. I may have disliked their use of ‘Air' for their new MacBook-like laptops, but the product itself is as sexy and powerfull like we all have been waiting for. This trend has been replicated by most chinese companies like the LeEco the makers of LeTv phones, which is now trying to replicate Tesla’s electric car model in China, as Tesla is doing in the US.

Xiaomi has been trying to reap little profits from massive sales, a method that is doing well for those consumers who want quality products on low budget. Do not be surprised if Xiaomi starts venturing into electric cars in the near future.
