Marriage is considered a sacred bond between a man and woman in India. But like every other relationship, problems are bound to arise between two people one way or the other. In India, a good number of marriages are arranged.

In scenarios like these, more often than not, the to-be-groom and the to-be-bride don’t get a chance to know each other well before the wedding takes place and after they get into the wedlock, it sometimes happens that they come to know about some things about their partners which are not acceptable to them.

In earlier times, the husband and the wife used to keep mum on things like these and adjusted to keep the marriage intact. Also, in most sections of the society, a divorced person is looked down upon. Even the Indian Judicial system does not believe in handing out divorces easily. The judges insist on reconciliation and try to keep the marriage from breaking by resolving the differences between the husband and the wife.

But times are changing now. This has certainly increased the business for divorce lawyers but it comes with problems of its own. The most common problem faced by the lawyers is getting their legal fees from the client.

Many times, clients try to haggle for fees not realizing that the job of the lawyer is difficult and hectic and their services should not be bargained for. There is also a rise in alternate dispute resolution mechanisms due which the number of cases being handed over to the lawyers has decreased.

The judicial system is now focusing on mediation and resolution of differences between couples through counseling. This has reduced the lawyers’ business. They are sometimes forced to take up a case knowing that it is fake just to make the ends meet.

Also, the clients do not follow advice and later blame their lawyer for giving them wrong advice. So, situations often become difficult for lawyers to deal with and they are not left with any way out of them. Another major problem is dealing with emotional clients, where the lawyers are forced to spend their time on things that would be of no use to them in the case. These are some of the most common problems faced by divorce lawyers.
