There a literally hundreds of articles and quotes about Intuition which you can easily find on the internet.
Given all these buzzes about intuition, and how it could change your life stories, Here comes the real question,
Should you really follow our intuition? How trustworthy is our intuition?
To find this out, we need some insights into our Brain.
There are 2 parts in our Brain, one is the Rational part and the other is Emotional part.
Rational part is responsible for our sixth sense, our thinking ability. This part helps us in analysing and making informed decisions. This part took millions of years to become what it is today. This group of neurons looks out for facts and previous experiences before acting to a situation.
Intuition is handled by the Emotional part. To all those who exclaim ‘I follow my Heart’, really follow their emotional part of their Brain. This emotional part, is responsible for our anger, love, fear, happiness, anxiety, affection, passion and other such feelings which makes us Human.
But can we trust this part of our Brain completely?
Answer can be derived from the following two real-life incidents
Incident 1 (Source):
Phyllis Hammond: One evening, my daughter Lauren came over for our Tuesday night get together. We love our one on one time. Most evenings, I enjoy a relaxing glass of wine and as always, I offered her the same. However, this time it felt different, as I began to offer her a glass I hesitated, turned around and said, “What am I thinking you can’t drink wine, you’re going to have a baby!” To her wide-eyed surprise she looked at me and exclaimed “Mom, can’t I ever tell you anything without you knowing first!”.
This is one simple Incident which tells us about the remarkable power of our intuition. There are many such examples where following Intuition has even saved people from life threatening situations.
Incident 2 (Source):
Matilda Crabtree was supposed to stay at her friends house that day as her parent’s went to visit a friend of theirs. She decided to surprise her parents, and hid in her closet. When her parents returned home, they were alerted by the sounds from their house. Mr.Crabtree reached for his gun and went inside Matilda’s room to investigate. Matilda Jumped out of the closet and yelled ‘Boo!’. The Emotional part of the brain was triggered due to the sudden action and it forced Mr.Crabtree to shoot his own Daughter.
Intuition may be life-saving, but it can also be life-taking. Trusting our Intuition is good, but Blindly trusting them proves to be costly.
Follow your intuition, but before that process it using your Rational part!
Be Wise and take decisions accordingly!
