Renowned director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his films ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh’, recently spoke out in an interview about the controversies surrounding ‘Kabir Singh’. Dismissing claims of misogyny, he defended the film’s stance.

In the midst of his packed schedule, Vanga’s newest release, ‘Animal’, hit theaters on December 1. This Ranbir Kapoor-starrer marks his third directorial venture post ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh’. When questioned about the contentious non-consensual kiss scene in ‘Kabir Singh’, the director staunchly defended the sequence, emphasizing his nonchalant attitude towards the controversies surrounding the film.

Vanga’s response underscored his disregard for the controversy, stating, “I didn’t think much about it. I don’t think that Kabir Singh was a misogynistic film. Only four-five people felt offended, and created noise about it. I never took them seriously.”

When confronted about the broader dissent, he dismissed it, remarking, “Four people wrote articles about it, and that inspired others to write more articles. Not more than 20 people in total, it was their point-of-view. We should not talk about all that, bhool jao Kabir Singh ko (forget Kabir Singh).”

‘Animal’ made its global theatrical debut on December 1, 2023. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the movie explores the complex father-son relationship. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, the film features Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles.
