So…if you gave Bernie $27 to run a campaign…why would you expect the DNC to refund your $27? Why? The only person with standing to complain is Bernie. If he wants to sue the DNC because they weren’t impartial enough…let him. As Bernie supporters did not donate directly to the DNC, they should have zero standing to sue the DNC.
Let me also give Bernie a smidgen of credit. I doubt that he expected the DNC to be completely impartial with regard to his candidacy given that he was not a Democratic Party member!!!
Besides that…the DNC charter is not encoded as a law of the US. Any enforcement of the charter principles comes from within the party. There is no outside group with standing to enforce the charter. If the charter violates US law, then fine. If the DNC violates US law, then take them to court and point out which law. Pointing at the DNC charter in a court of law and claiming it wasn’t fully honored is laughable. The DNC charter is not the same as a contract. No one who donated signed anything. This lawsuit is a farce. And so is Caitlin’s article.
