You are already using Slack, you’ve also add some apps from Slack’s App Directory such as Trello, Twitter or Zapier.

Maybe you wrote a bot with Hubot in order to enhance your users interaction experience.

Here are 3 reasons why you should now publish your own Slack App.

1) Enhance your customer’s experience

Slack is a very useful tool for your internal team but you will get even a better result displaying the “Add To Slack” button for your users so they can install your app from your site in their own Slack team. All your customer’s interactions with your company can benefit from this app : why have a phone call, send a mail if your app can give the answer to your customer’s request automatically (by getting the information on an internal system) or thru a connected team member interaction ?

2) Making messages more interactive with buttons

Interactive buttons are not available in bots and require a Slack App. Interactive buttons allows to invoke remote actions in your server.

With these interactions, your users can complete common tasks inside of Slack conversations. No need to open a new window and finish the job to be done elsewhere.

If there are multiple steps in an interaction, you replace the parts of the message and buttons along the way and at the end summarize the entire interaction.

This provides a valuable and pleasant experience for your users and your team members.

3) Put your brand in front of the world

Publishing your Slack App with your business name in Slack’s App Directory is a free and valuable advertising strategy. You’re in the major league with famous brands such as Zapier, Skype, Google Drive or Dropbox.

Use you own logo as app’s icon, it is also displayed inside Slack as a channel. Just comply with Slack App Directory Checklist and Slack App Developer Policy.

Who am I : I’m a happy Slack user since April 2015. I started with existing integrations such as Trello, Twitter, Zapier and wrote my first Hubot to connect our CRM/ticketing app which is not available as a Slack app (nor Zapier). But due to some bot limitations, I started to build a Slack App.
