I Made It This Far So I Must Be Doing Something Right

By Lauryn Ciulla

I was born on November 7th, 1999 in the city of Chicago and lived there until I was three years old. We moved to Des Plaines when my little brother, Tyler, was born. From a young age I have played many sports and have always be interested in art. I have two dogs named Candy and Nico. I work at the Allstate Arena and the Rosemont ice skating rink from November till around March. I’ve been in a few art shows such as the Harper art show in the fall and in a Chicago art exhibit. Some of the activities I do in school are theater crew and track and field.

Memorable Song:

I chose this song because I’ve listened to The Killers since I was a little kid. This song in particular is very relatable for most people and can help in tough situations. It has helped me get through hard times in the past and will always remain my favorite song.

During this time I was doing what I usually do when I have free time: drawing and listening to music.

Role Models:

Loey Lane

Loey is a plus size model who creates videos to promote self-acceptance and inspire people to love themselves. I look up to her because of how positive and caring she is.

Nicki Minaj

Although she was born into an abusive household, she, her siblings and her mother escaped to live a good life. Since then she has worked relentlessly to get to the top and has become a prominent figure in the music industry. I’m inspired by her because of her determination, hard work, and how she doesn’t let people walk over her.

Sasha Unisex

Sasha Unisex is a Russian tattoo artist who is sought after around the world. I look up to her because she gets to travel all over the globe for her job. I want to be able to do the things that I love while still being able to experience all the world has to offer.

My Dream:

My dream is to travel the world. I want to do this because I’d love to meet all different kinds of people and learn about different cultures and religions. It’s also a dream of mine to visit all kinds of historical sites around the world.

Living in America:

In America it’s very hard to move up economically and socially. There will be exceptions for this, however it is hard to leave the position you were born into.

In our country, every child is entitled to an education. How good the education the child receives depends on their economic situation, where they live, and many other factors. Even though education is a necessity, no two schools provide the same level of teaching.

As students a lot of out time is focused around learning and preparing for the next step. For most of us, that means college. Test taking is a skill that is needed to pass a class. It is this skill that can determine your future. For American students this is the most stressful part of our education.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
